Sustainability in sport events

Green Games is a project focused on promoting sustainability and learning mobility in European sport events.

Our goals

01

To raise awareness of the importance of sustainability promotion, and sustainable strategies and policies in sport events, contributing to the green transformation of the sport sector.

To evaluate the level of implementation of sustainability strategies in European sport events and collect good practices.

To provide sport event organiser bodies with knowledge on how to implement policies and strategies for sustainable sport events through the creation of a protocol for green sport events.

To recognise sport events that are committed to sustainability by creating a new quality ‘Green Game Seal’ to award compliance with the Protocol in the adoption and promotion of sustainable measures and behaviors in sport events, as well as to certify as many of them meet the quality requirements.

To disseminate and foster the exchange of best practices and recommendations for green sport events through a green sport event network.

To promote sport events as models for the green transition of events in other sectors and contribute to the sports sector’s role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
